Great place to stay. Very spacious and very well equipped. Marike and Zander the managers were amazing, as were all the staff. Would loved to have stayed there longer than 2 days! Highly recommend

Everything about this stay was perfect. The lodge is beautiful and private. The rooms were clean and cozy. The staff were very quick to clean, but it did not feel invasive. The lodge was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals. The lodge managers, Marike and Zander, were very knowledgeable and accommodating. Sandy was very responsive with all questions I had prior to our arrival. I hope to be able to return one day.

About

Thaba lodge is a self‐catering, private luxury safari lodge situated in the malaria free Black Rhino Reserve, a private concession in the wilderness area of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, North West Province, South Africa. A mere two to three hours drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria and, only 20 minutes drive from the Sun City complex, Thaba Lodge is conveniently situated to these major centres. Guests staying in the private Black Rhino Reserve have exclusive use of this concession, while also being permitted to drive in open guided safari vehicles in the main Pilanesberg Reserve. No off-road driving is permitted.

Thatched Thaba Lodge is an exclusive use lodge which sleeps 10 people sharing in 5 beautifully designed and fitted, individual, air-conditioned suites. Two of the suites are inter‐leading to cater for families with small children. No expense has been spared in providing superior quality cotton linen and other furnishings. Each suite has its own tea and coffee making facility, a bar fridge and safe. A double shower and double hand basins complement the beautiful bath in the en-suite bathrooms.

The enormous double volume main entertainment area comprises a fully fitted open plan kitchen with walk-in fridge, ample freezer space, scullery with dishwasher, dining area, casual lounge with flat screen TV (DSTV), reading lounge with library, pub (which guests self-stock) with an ice-making machine and drinks fridge, pool table, and a wonderful veranda with a gas Weber braai/barbeque, and spectacular views of the mountain (Thaba) after which the lodge is named.

Beautiful fireplaces allow for cozy winter evenings. The lodge has a splash pool and sun deck, boma with outdoor wood braai/barbeque area, an elevated viewing deck, and is surrounded by a non‐intrusive electrified fence to keep guests safe from the big 5 which are regularly spotted in the area. A small waterhole often attracts animals and birds for our guests viewing pleasure.

There is cellphone coverage at the lodge, as well as limited complimentary WIFI.

Self‐catering allows guests to create their own meals with ingredients of their choice. The lodge is serviced by 2 maids and a gardener. The lodge is managed by Zander and Marike, both qualified FGASA game rangers, who live on site, and are there to assist as necessary, and to take guests on game drives in our open safari vehicle twice a day, included in the daily rate.

Thaba Lodge is perfect for small groups and families.
